BC Children’s Hospital Foundation, the only hospital in the province devoted exclusively to the care of children and youth, announced that the 12th annual Triple Crown for Heart event will be taking place on Saturday, July 15, 2023, starting at 8 a.m., at Ron Andrews Community Centre – 931 Lytton St., North Vancouver. Triple Crown for Heart is a community organized event and funds raised go to BC Children’s Hospital Foundation and Children’s Heart Networks. Individual and team cyclists participating in the Triple Crown for Heart raise funds through friends, family, and community support to reach their fundraising goal.
Tire Stewardship BC and Ocean Legacy Foundation announce partnership to remove scrap tire pollution across B.C.
Tire Stewardship BC (TSBC), an environmental not-for-profit group dedicated to the collection and recycling of scrap tires in British Columbia, today announced that they are providing a five-year annual grant of $30,000 to Ocean Legacy Foundation (OLF). The funding will be used to support OLF scrap tire clean-up expeditions across British Columbia.

VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation announce launch of $35 million fundraising campaign for Urologic Sciences
VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation today announced the launch of their Urologic Sciences campaign, with the goal of raising $35 million. The funds raised will be used primarily to amplify clinical care, research, and education across urologic sciences, bringing improved care to BC patients in areas including prostate, kidney and bladder cancer, kidney stones, bladder and female pelvic health, kidney transplant, sexual and reproductive health and adolescent transitional urology. With support from over 30 local business leaders and philanthropists, the campaign has already raised over $25 million.

Interchange Recycling sponsored the Whitecaps FC vs. FC Cincinnati game at BC Place this past weekend. The SOMA team was there to help with the seacan display on the Terry Fox Plaza and a booth inside the stadium. Interchange Recycling created branded soccer scarves to hand out to soccer fans and they were a huge hit! It was a fantastic event to showcase their new branding. Congratulations to everyone at Interchange Recycling for all their hard work on this rebrand and a successful debut event!
Tackling B.C.’s housing supply and affordability crisis, Light House releases new report: A Blueprint for Change
Light House, an organization focused on advancing circular practices in the built environment, today, released a new report – A Blueprint for Change – that outlines home relocation as an environmentally and societally beneficial strategy for creating affordable, high-quality housing in British Columbia. The report prioritizes home relocation over demolition and offers a set of recommendations that could positively impact provincial and municipal government policy initiatives, help ease the demand for housing and reduce the environmental footprint caused by construction, renovation, and demolition waste, currently accounting for 25 per cent of all landfill waste. A Blueprint for Change is funded by Vancity Credit Union and Nickel Bro House Moving Ltd.
Applications open for Tire Stewardship BC 2023 Community Grant Program
Tire Stewardship BC (TSBC), an environmental not-for-profit group dedicated to the collection and recycling of scrap tires in British Columbia, today announced that they are officially accepting applications for their 2023 Community Grant Program, which provides an opportunity for communities to use and benefit from a wide range of recycled tire products. TSBC will provide financial support to select organizations across the province that have chosen to use recycled tire rubber for their upcoming projects. Applications are being accepted now until July 31, 2023 and can be submitted here for consideration.

BC Used Oil Management Association (BCUOMA), a not-for-profit group dedicated to the collection and recycling of used lubricating oil, oil filters, oil containers, used antifreeze and antifreeze containers in British Columbia, today announced the winners of their fourth annual Top Collector Awards. 30 B.C. public recycling centres have been honored for their exemplary performance and dedication to the collection of used oil and antifreeze materials across the province throughout 2022.

Ocean Plastic Depot Opens in Sunshine Coast Regional District
