SOMA Public Relations is a full-service, boutique PR agency that provides purpose-driven and socially responsible businesses and non-profit organizations with strategic communication services. We are seeking a talented and passionate individual with an entrepreneurial spirit to join our North Vancouver-based team as an Account Manager. This opportunity is ideal if you excel in your craft of communications and PR, and love working with innovative clients who are committed to making a positive difference across B.C. and beyond. What you will be doing:
Developing and executing strategic communications plans for your clients, largely independently, with oversight from senior staff.
Working with your clients 1:1, hosting and facilitating brainstorming sessions and strategy meetings.
Conducting in-depth research on clients and their target markets.
Providing clients with regular campaign updates, next steps, and results.
Assisting with researching, planning, and executing media and client events.
Providing client media training.
Working directly with clients on crisis management strategies and solutions.
Pitching client stories to media outlets, journalists, podcasts, conferences, reporters, etc.
Distributing newswires.
Scheduling and coordinating interviews for clients and prepping clients for interviews.
Continually researching industry best practices and providing clients with industry-leading advice.
Coaching junior team members on PR concepts and solutions.
Meeting with the SOMA team to review and help set annual objectives, working together to meet company goals.
Other duties as assigned or modified from time to time.
Qualifications:
5+ years of PR experience.
Experience in the environmental and/or non-profit sector is an asset.
Relevant experience in Public Relations or communications; agency environment strongly preferred.
Proven team leader. The ability to lead an account with minimal oversight.
Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
Able to learn and work with a multitude of different software applications, i.e., databases, design software, Meltwater, Microsoft Office, Google Docs, ClickUp, etc.
Proven ability to work collaboratively with a team and individually.
Resourceful, self-motivated, reliable, organized, multi-tasker, positive attitude, known for exceeding expectations, and has a sense of humour.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects with tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Professional, detail-oriented, driven, and a problem solver.
More details about the opportunity:
This position is a hybrid workplace model: Tuesdays and Thursdays - Office in North Vancouver (Lower Lonsdale), and Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays - Work From Home.
Weekend work as needed.
Salary: $58,000-$65,000 a year. Salary is negotiable based on experience.
